Free CogAT figure classification worksheets

CogAT · Figure classification · Grades 1–8

Figure classification is the nonverbal cousin of "which one belongs." A few figures share a rule, such as the same kind of shape or the same fill, and you choose the figure that fits. It is not a grid with an empty corner, and it is not a paper fold. QuizPrint offers it in the nonverbal battery from Grade 1 through Grade 8. The sample is Grade 2, where the sets are still easy to see. Older grades keep the same task with busier figures. Picture classification, for the verbal battery, uses drawings of things rather than these abstract figures, and only in Grades 1 and 2. QuizPrint is not affiliated with Riverside Insights, and these worksheets are not official CogAT questions.

Common questions

How is figure classification different from a figure matrix?
Classification asks which figure belongs with a set. A matrix is a grid, and you fill one empty cell.
Does this page use photos or abstract shapes?
Abstract figures from our nonverbal bank. Everyday picture sets for Grades 1 and 2 are on the picture classification page.
